Abstract: The topic of this research is the impact of adult education on community development. This study aimed to explore how adult education programs contribute to the social and economic development of communities. The objectives were to assess the role of adult education in fostering community cohesion, to evaluate its impact on local economic development, and to identify successful strategies for integrating adult education into community development initiatives. A survey research design was employed to collect data from community members and adult education program participants, providing a comprehensive view of the impact on community development. A sample size of 320 participants from various adult education programs and community development projects was selected to ensure diverse insights. The purposive sampling technique was used to target individuals involved in both adult education and community development. The case study was conducted in Delta, Nigeria, where community development initiatives are actively supported by adult education. Findings revealed that adult education significantly contributed to community development by enhancing social cohesion, improving economic opportunities, and promoting active community participation. The study recommended expanding adult education programs to further support community development goals and integrating educational initiatives with local development plans.
